What's it like? Heading up in June (pending lockdown easing) - any views on good bits, bad bits etc
I like it, it’s pretty varied, lots of different features and stuff that’s worth looping back and doing again.
It will be wet though. Even in June. Not muddy, just wet, in the first mile or so out of the main car park. There’s been a fair bit of resurfacing, which isn’t ideal if you like natural feeling trails, but they flow well and run really quick.
My local TC and I think it's great! Bit rough atm as the trail builders obviously can't fix it but that's not necessarily a bad thing. You will catch most of the best bits just following 'The 8' but make sure you don't bypass the Hope Line as it is off the main route but runs parallel. Also be careful not to miss Hully Gully as the new(ish) line, The Long Way Down comes up just before. Both should be ridden so ride one then bear right at the bottom to loop back round to the start of the other.
It’s good. The volunteers do a fantastic job building and maintaining the trails.
The hope line is fun and worth a few sessions if you can handle the slog up.
The slab looks more intimidating than it is. Easily rideable though.
It maybe controversial but, I think, The Longway Down is better than Hully Gully. Fortunately you can ride both if you use the fireroad back up.
Depends what kind of riding you like best, IMO you have to enjoy climbing to enjoy Gisburn - if you're more about the downs then you'll probably find it underwhelming.
The downhill runs are good as well. I'm looking forward to getting back for a day out, climbing and descending, what's not to like?
Thanks for the replies. I'm more of an XC jey-boy, so climbing is fine. Is there much around (XC) in the wider Forest of Bowland area, I'm there for a bit?
