Afternoon folks,

I'm in the process of selling My Evil Sov frame as I just can't get along with it and want to replace it with something a bit different. My choices are getting a carbon hard tail frame and dressing it with the stuff off the Sov, or using the funds from the sale as a deposit for a cheap 29er and do the finance thing. I've entered the Manx 100(mile) event for next year so I'm after a bike that will get me round that as quickly and reliably as possible. Really can't decide which is the way to go.
Any ideas?

What would the build be on the carbon frame and the budget for the new 29er?

5'11" I ride mostly Lakes, Peaks, Rivi, Hebden Bridge... most of the usual northern haunts. The carbon would have Pike airs that would be off the Sov along with Thompson bits, Stans Crest wheels, Formula oro brakes, and a mix of SLX and XT drive. I recon I'd be looking to spend no more than £1200 on the 29er (inc deposit) any more and I'd be in fear of loosing my manhood 😀

Ti456 Evo frame! Light(ish), mad downhill yet fast at XC and uphill! It'll take the forks too.

That is a very nice looking bike indeed - I've never ridden a 29er and feel its an itch I'd like to scratch but seeing that makes me realise I could build a quick hard tail without having to do a smash and grab on the piggy bank.... "wanders off to On One".....
