I need to get some new lights to replace my Trouty Liberator, but with a limited budget. I don’t really want to spend more than £100.

im thinking of either the Lezyne 1500, alp kit or the Luminator.

Can anyone recommend any of the above or give any suggestions of others ?

Thanks

£100 or £200?

I'd buy a Lumenator and a Lumen 800

Thanks, yes good point i missed from my  first post. I would like a helmet light to go with a bar light. I don’t want a helmet light that needs a cable though.

so I guess £200 total for bar and helmet light .

i bought one of these last month, and it's been excellent so far. Had a 3 hour cycle on friday night, on country lanes with no street lamps, and still had 1.5 hours showing on the LED.

here's a review

Ive had Hope lights etc but these days i just use Ultrafire wf-501b...one on my cycle helmet & one on the bar. So cheap i may use 2 on the bar. Some good 18650 batteries ( i tend to get Panasonic bought from a legit retailer), a nightcore charger and im good to go whether it be night rides or night dog walks etc

I have the battery attached to the rear of my helmet. Seems  to work fine

People often seem to prefer to spend hundred on lights, but I've got two of these Nitenumens. Brilliant. Under £40

They are branded differently, my first one being an Evolva but same great light.

Magicshine MJ-900 - allegedly 1200 lumens, but probably a bit under.

Can be had for £40-50.

One on the bars and one on the helmet would be more than enough.

it is a separate battery and head unit, but the battery is small and light enough to strap to the back of you helmet.

Been running one on the helmet (in conjunction with a Gloworm light on the bars) for the last few months, and it's just worked, no probs at all.

OP - what's up with the Troutie Liberator?? I got a new battery for mine (when I had it) as the original developed a fault. Mark @mtb batteries sorted it out and checked a cable connection. Worth a call to see if it's repairable

Head: Exposure Joystick

Bars: mtbbatteries Lumenator

Very slightly over your budget but it's what I have and it works really well. BTW I think the alpkit lights are rebranded Magicshine units

I see the Joystick mk12 is discounted to about £110 at the mo, is that standard pricing or a particularly good deal?

Thanks everyone, I never thought about getting a new battery for the trout light.

Thanks Carlos - Ill give mtb batteries a call, how much was your new battery if you don’t mind me asking ? Sounds like this could be the way forward.

Can't remember to be honest it was a couple of years ago. Defo worth a call as I'm sure he'll be able to offer a couple of options with varying run times and costs

Chakaping - joystick mk12 I’d excellent. Just bought two.  Head mounted off road or good for road riding as a main light.

Buy one and something cheap and cheerful for the bars. Or the biggest thing £90 buys.

Pair of Magicshine maybe?   https://www.bikelightsuk.com/front_bike_lights/magicshine_mj900_1200_lumens_bike_light_mbuk_best_value_2016_P636.html

Or one big one?

But get the Joystick.
