[Closed] Light Bicycle Build Quality

Morning

I'm convinced of the quality of their rims but I'm interested in any real world feedback on wheelsets that they have built. I'm particularly interested in their road wheels but I guess they're all built by the same people - I'd appreciate any comments, good and bad on either mtb or road wheels

Thanks

I have been happy with the quality of the build on the road wheels I bought from them. I have done 1,000miles or so on them and they haven't needed any attention, mainly on tarmac but some off road too. U-shaped rims, Novatech disc hubs, bladed spokes and brass nipples.

I have previously built two sets of LB mtb rims into mtb wheels. So would was also going to build the road wheels, but I was tempted with the solid rim bed and their price to build them was fairly reasonable. It saved me trying to feed the nipples through the rim. If needed I was happy to slacken them off and retension, but the build appeared excellent. I can't remember if I tested the spoke tensions or not - I probably did.

TBH I don't know how much you can tell from looking/riding but mine (3 mtb rims) have all stood up well, and no visible defects or ugly bits or poor finishing or anything.

It was the quality of the built wheels rather than the quality of the rims he's after, I made the same mistake.

I built mine myself though, so can't help!

I've had two sets of LB road wheels. Both built by LB onto Novatec disc hubs. First set were 50mm section, current set at 35mm section. Both have been absolutely faultless! Light, strong, cheap - tell that to Bontrager!

Both sets have been ridden in anger up here in the Lakes on roads that leave a lot to be desired.

I've got two LB 29er wheels, built by them. They're coming up for a year old and spoke tension still seems to be fine. They're on my main bike and the other bikes haven't had much of a look in all year. I've only done "squeeze the spokes" test and that's not showing any need for tuning yet.

I am not a wheel builderist though.

I've just put some on my 29er. They built up no problem and have been faultless. Definitely going to go LB on my next roadie disc-wheel pair.

I've only bought 2 sets of rims and built them up myself so can't comment on their build quality (rims are awesome though). I'd be fine ordering built wheels from them though. I expect others will disagree but IMO there's a lot of unnecessary "black art" mystique attached to wheelbuilding. It's really not that hard. If you're worried, order them then get a local wheelbuilder to give them a once-over for a few quid.

Just got my 30mm internal AM 29er rims delivered today.

The quality seams excellent. A bit better than the XC ones I got a year ago (which have taken dogs abuse and are still sweet)
