Anyone ride an X Control or know someone who does.
I am struggling to find any reviews so would appreciate any riders opinions of the bike.
I ride a 2005 Spesh Epic at the moment, absolutley love it but the new ones are way too expensive for my budget so looking for something similar.

There was a review in a recent STW mag...can't remember which, but they liked it. They commented on the fact that considering the relatively short travel, the suspension could take big hits without feeling like it was reaching the end of its travel. Said something along the lines of; a bike for people that don't usually get along with full sus...something like that anyhow, though I stand to be corrected!
Shameless plug - my mates bike shop will do you a good deal on one.
I've ridden a couple, very fast feeling.
Back end was fairly stiff laterally and I came away thinking it felt a bit like a (slightly) racey ht which you couldn't feel bumps through.
I'd have one for distance xc, race etc but bought a Zesty instead as it wasn't quite what I was after.
Sorry for hurried phone/train review!
IvanDobski - That's the sort of thing im after, something good for long climbs and flowing single track. I like the look of the Zesty's as well but i steer away from the gnarly stuff.
Thanks.
glynP - What would you call a deal. I have found the '410' for 1800 sterlings. Any improvements on that?
There was a review in What Mountain bike not so long ago. They weren't so keen on the bike as they felt the suspension wasn't as good as it's competitors.
Rode one as a demo bike at glycorrwg around a year ago and is by far the worst suspension bike I have ever ridden. This one had the proprietry shock on the back (i.e. non fox) fusion I think? and just blew through travel no matter how it was set-up aside from when pumped up too far and became overly stiff. With a fox it may have done better but cant comment on that.
If you are after something in that travel range then would say go with an anthem x myself. Of all the bikes I tried the anthem and pronghorn performed the best with the pronghorn just nudging it but the price difference swings it to the anthem which is definitely the best short travel full-sus bike out there.
erm one review in current i.e. issue 59 of SingleTrack Mag
happened on a bumpy flat dry track, still waiting to hear on the warranty.
Oosh. How long have you been waiting to hear and how old is the bike? I'm interested to see how the manufacturer responds.
Cheers,
Rusty

bike is 6 months old.
try the 2011 marin rift zone, 100mm travel, although it feels longer! You'll just have to wait a little while longer though. I did the 24/12 on one and loved it, didn't want to give it back actually!

...and if you don't mind me asking, how long have you been waiting to hear back from the dealer/importer? The Zesty is on my short-list for next year...but it'll be off the list sharpish if they don't look after their customers!
Cheers,

Mollyiom: is that you or your mate in the photo?
Are they naked from the waist down apart from shoes and socks? ๐
That's a big fail Mollyiom!
A mate living in France has nothing but bad reports about Lapiere's.
X control being top of the list, his mate has broken his several times and has now sold it!
