Yet again my gf's BB has seized in her Zesty 514. It was replaced a year ago but the bike only gets ridden irregularly (once per month, about 25 miles each time).

Its still full of grease, the bike is stored upside down so its not water sitting in the BB shell. When you turn the cranks they will move a few degrees, then you can feel the bearings seize. The cranks will keep turning with a small amount of resistance, but its just turning the bearing shells within the BB. Bumping the cranks gently back and forth for a few minutes will free up the bearings until you can get a full rotation, after doing that they are nice and smooth. But after a couple of days they are solid again 🙁

Last time we had it done under warranty but the LBS is not so local to us, just found out the installation tool is only £40 and a headset press will also do the job.

So, any alternatives to shelling out £50 for yet another XTR BB? If not, any suggestions for the cheapest place to buy from? I get the impression the BB is specific to Lapierre and not a generic press fit.

Enduro do one, there's a old thread on here about it.

My 514 BB is holding out after occasionly popping off the seals and adding some chain lube

Did consider that but I don't think I can get the bearings out without mullering the plastic shell around them, already taken a chunk out of it.

CRC have some Dura Ace push fit bearings which may fit but the Shimano website don't seem to have the specs for any XTR BB's, plus they are £35 anyway so only saves me £15.

Here for the bottom brackets, take your pick of steel or ceramic, Park BBT90 for whacking the old one out Here and like you say a headset press for pressing the new one in. Sealing on them BB's is supposed to be a lot better than the XTR ones (wouldn't be hard). Hope this helps.

Thanks, going to order from CRC, missed it on my first search so instead of £50 I can get it for £35.

Enduro looks good but need it by the weekend, plus it'll probably be ages due to all the international post piling up at the airports over the last few days!
