I want to join my mates on a leg of their coast to coast on Sunday. They're riding from Seathwaite to Shap. I want to leave my car in Shap, get a bus or something to Seathwaite or even Coniston - then ride with them back to my car.

Any ideas how this can be achieved?

Thanks,

Adam

At a guess you'd probably go from Shap to Kendal, then X35 from kendal to Ulverston then X12 from Ulverston to Coniston

So you could actually go from Ulverston to Broughton on the 511 (i think) which may be easier

All of this may be useless though, but Im not sure of another way to do it.

Surely you'd need a big bag that hides the fact it is a bike, what with bikes being not allowed on most buses?

And at 9am on a Sunday morning - am I asking too much?!

Is there any bike companies with shuttle buses?

9am, not much chance. Train from Shap to Kendal to Carnforth to Ulverston then ride the rest?

Stagecoach service 505 here leaves Kendal 0950, arrives Coniston 1100 (which is about when they'll arrive if riding over Walna Scar from Seathwaite?)
You'd have to ride from Shap to Kendal, 17 miles, but it's mostly downhill ๐Ÿ˜• Be as quick as your mates from Seathwaite to Coniston I imagine.
There's no bus on a sunday from Shap to Kendal.
The 505 lets you take bikes.

Or a taxi

"If you'd like to speak to someone about your journey you can ring Traveline
on 0871 200 22 33 (Calls cost 10p per minute from a BT landline, calls from other service providers and calls from mobiles may vary). Traveline is open weekdays from 7am - 8pm in Cumbria, 8am - 8pm in Lancashire, 7 days a week. Local bus info can also be found on the Traveline website, as well as info about bus routes in other parts of the country."

That one solves it I guess, only downer is you miss out the Walna Scar

Saying that its better than my effort of traipsing round the south lakes by minibus.
