Considering taking off for a night and doing a big route in the Lakes, big ride somewhere, stop in a B&B overnight then ride back to car next day.

Suggestions ?

Suspect taylforth was taking the piss again.

Have been thinking about this for a while but never worked out a route fully. Could start ambleside and head over the bridleway to stonethwaite (bottom of borrrowdale) Then over Styhead to Wasdale head (Could also go over the Honister and via Ennerdale and Blacksail sp?? to Wasdale. Overnight stop.

From wasdale you could take the bridleway over to Eskdale (I have never done it so could be a mare) then take the bridalway from the bottom of the hardnott over to duddondale and then over the walna scar and back to ambleside. Would be 2 very long days. Would need to have a look at a map to really work out how long it would all take.

Lakeland loop that's a 2 day route, which can be modified depending on ability/speed.

There was a 2 day event at the mountain festival that went from Keswick to Pooly Bridge (I think)and back taking in most of the good terrain in both ways. Linky cant find the route map though! Think it included Sticks Pass, Boredale Hause, High Street stuff, Lencathra/Skiddaw Fells and more

Park Keswick
Rigg Beck / Newlands to Buttermere (you could if you feel strong enough go over Sail, Eel Crags and down Whitless Pike)
Scarth gap
Black Sail
Wasdale overnight.
Sty Head
Esk Hause
Rosset Ghyll
Stake Pass
Langstrath
Honister
Borrowdale Bash return leg to Keswick.

Park car in Coniston. Ride over to Hawkshead in time for lunch. Tie one on in the Kings Arms. Ask somebody to give you a lift back to Coniston next day.
