they look big, clunky and heavy, so thinking the Shimano MW81 might be better, especially for on CX rides and lighter winter mtb'ing duties.

Go on, what is your opinion?

Thanks.

they're quite chunky - more like walking boots than cycling shoes.

The Shimano's are more cycle shoe like but not as warm.

They might look it but they are not heavy or Clunky

Not weighed it next to a shimano winter one but they were about the same weight as my shimano summer one [ a cheap version ot be fair to SHimano

yeah the northwaves are nice and light and look good, but they are quite narrow and CRC have the Shimanos at £105

what is 10GBP?
I've got the voucher for a further £10 off too 🙂

Northwave do look better with the Velcro tucked out of sight.

I tried the north wave and found them too narrow. The shimanos are excellent although I had to get a 43 rather than usual 42

I'm tempted by a pair of Mavic Scree; haven't had a chance to go to my nearest stockist yet though.
