I ride the Elites. No, don't use rim tape BUT do check the rim wells for any sharp burs - a few slow punctures when I bought mine came from non-ovious sharp edges.

Tried velox cloth rim tape for about 5 minutes but could get my tyres on properly (Evo corsa) so took the rim tape off and all was good. Have been running my SL's without rim tape for 18 months and haven't any problems.

Thanks all, Mavics instructions aren't that clear but I've fitted them tonight and gone without tape. 1st impression is v light. Looking forward to 1st ride at the weekend.
