I have a ks dropzone on my winter bike. Its started to rise back up on its own. I think the seal under the lever has started to fail.

Its not worth fixing when you can get a brand x dropper for the same price.

So, any ks experts out there? Does the top screw off so you can get to it?

I've tried to look for videos but they are just the strip, clean degrease ones.

I figure it's worth having a go and if I break it I'll buy another brand x.

Thanks

This post suggests that the seat clamp screws on/off.

Yeah it unscrews

Mine had got sticky, but when I serviced it the sanction had corroded quite badly at the base.

@Phil_H

Thanks. I'd seen that years ago but couldn't find it again.

I'll give it a go and see what happens

Well, I've tried to undo the top but it's completely stuck. I think it's a two person job.!

Just a quick update.

I still can't get the seat clamp off so I tried to remove the actuator p26gl to clean it but couldn't get that to move. Sprayed some degreaser in, cut down a tooth brush so it would fit and gave it a dam good scrubbing.

Seat post works perfectly now. It must have had some dirt in there letting air through.

Not the service I planned but it's working so a good result in the end.

Thanks for your help

Dirt and grit builds up around the lever/plunger. Now it's clean ram some thick grease into the area to stop the crud getting back in.
