What are the alternatives of a paddy wagon: nice steel road/commuting frame.
Taking disk will be a bonus.
I can only think of the road rat

Have a look at Ridgeback Solo World. Cycle Scourgery have them for £399 at present. Doesn't take discs but looks rather pleasing.
Pearson Hanzo is nice too.
