I keep getting tempted by a Kinesis XC120 frame (i'm looking for a light weight but failry robust hardtail frame) and the XC 120's look really good but I'm a bit worried about how robust they are...it will be used for all mountain riding, and will need to be able to handle the drops and jumps as well as XC, one review I read saw said the tubes got dinted very easily...any body got any views on this?
Ive had one for a year now.really like it althou i dont do big gaps or owt. it built up around 27lb with coil revs and lx kit. its handled trail centers, cannock and the like just fine so i guess it depends how hardcore you are :o)
Isn't the clue in the 'XC' part of the XC120? I'd guess it won't be suitable for 'all mountain' in the same way a Dialled or On One might be. Isn't the Kinesis Phase or whatever it was called a more robust 'all mountain' style frame?
I have one and I love it, it's recieved most of my riding since buying it. It's a great general xc bike with 130 revs on the front, light too. Low bb makes it an excellent singletracker. Not much of a jumper messlf so can't comment there but well pleased otherwise. If you want anything more reply back and I can write more when I'm at a key board (not an iPhone)

sadly the Phase is discontinued now.
I want something lighter with a slightly more XC bias then a dialled or On-One and it deosnt have to handle anything too arduos as I have my RM slayer for that, but if I see a set of rocky steps or a small jump at one of the trail centres I dont want to worry about it surviving.

any feedback appreciated.
its an all day bike rather than an all mountin. it replaced my 456 which i never really pushed to its limits. i would have thought something like a chameleon or orange sub zero might be a better hard core alu bike.
It's a great xc / trail bike but not designed for bigger jumps and drops. I tested one in the Singletrack magazine - have a look in a back copy.
