I want to build a little loop for the kids (3 & 5) in the garden, Ideally it'd be a pump track but I understand building something that actually flows properly might be quite tricky and time consuming. Primary aim is for a little loop they can peddle round, I'll try and work little rollers and banked corners but this is secondary. I'm thinking as they grow and their skills progress (and my time allows) I can build little skills loop type features (optional step-ups/drop-offs and skinnies).

I'm thinking for construction: scrape 100mm topsoil off (currently grassed lawn at the moment) and then put down 100mm of hardcore for the surface. For speed I was considering hiring a mini-digger for the weekend and using the bulldozer bit to do the topsoil scraping. Then I'd barrow in the hardcore and go over it all with a whacker-plate.

Thought I'd ask on here for any tips/advice/inspiration before getting things moving!

If I was doing this, the first thing I would do is.........move to somewhere with a bigger garden!

Sounds great though, have fun.

Ooh. If only I could actually find my old threads....

There's loads of kiddy garden biking ones.

PS, where are you?
I'm keen to get rid of our kiddy northshore. ( Manc)

Edit. Ooh here you go.

Mini diggers are great fun, but. There’s a knack to em if you want to be efficient. You’d not use the blade to clear 100mm deep, you skim the 100mm off with the grading bucket (wide with an edge rather than teeth). It is however very easy to
“skim that a bit there”
“Nearly 100mm, just take a touch of there”
“Just level that”
And
“Shitballs, I’ve dug a swimming pool”

The idea though is great, and something I’d love to do if we ever manage to move house.
Take pics and share them.
