Been using sintered pads for years and the last well and give good power - usually..... But I find that they easy get glazed over and sometimes need to be replaced even though there is plenty of pad left.
Are Kevlar Pads any better and do they glaze over??
I like them. Great compromise between organic bite and sintered durability.

It's all I run, using Superstar ones ATM, they work just fine and dandy on all weathers and don't squeal or nuffink
I had some and thought they were really good, as onzadog says great comprise of power and pad life

They're great but I still run sintered in winter. The kevlar is for summer IMO

Got some ss ones and tbh I'm not that impressed with them. Bedded them in as per instructions and there certainly not as powerful as the hope sintered they replaced.
got a good year out of a superstar set using m970 xtr brakes but in suffolk we dont really have fast long mountains but we do have ton's of sandy pine forests and muddy marsh's

In my experience only when they're wet & very cold. Once they're up to temperature, they're pretty quiet. It's good for alerting walkers to your presence anyway 🙂

To counter this, my experience in gritty conditions was not as good.
I bought SS Kevlars for a trip to Garda and in those conditions they were brilliant. I went through 1 change and was 50 % through the second after over 20,000 metres of descending.
However...
My first ride when back in the UK was a wet summer day in Calderdale.
The remaining 50% of the pads was gone, down to metal, within 15 miles.
...and its not as though they hadn't been bedded in!!!
For the UK, I'll only consider sintered.
For drier places, i.e. no grinding-paste, yes they were very good, didn't lose much efficiency even when red-hot, maybe a bit better than organic.
I like them, used them in various sets of brakes over the years.
Hmmm.....differing views about wear, but all positive about power. Definitely worth a go on the next order and I'll give them a go in the Peak grit mud!
