How's the northern lakes holding up ? (prob borrowdale bash, maybe skiddaw, though I remmber some bits of that being boggy in summer once - or what else would you suggest)
On a related note, would you take a non-biker (to whom you were married and might have to share a car that evening for 6 hours) round Whinlatter ? (I've been before but can't really remember it)
oh, and:
Planning Outlook for all mountain areas from Saturday, 20th October, 2012
Dry with light winds on almost all mountain areas this weekend, and cloud breaking off many summits. Nevertheless, still a few showers, and late Sunday threat of rain together with strengthening winds reaching Wales and southern Pennines. An area of showery rain will move north across Britain Sunday night and Monday, but overall next week will be very much drier.

The bash and skidda 'standard' loop will be great - don't be tempted down Mosedale from Skidda House.
Whinlatter blue is fine with newbies.
Cheers boxelder
don't be tempted down Mosedale
Is that sort of straight in front of the house ? - seem to remember a long trudge up a one in ten swamp
The borrowdale bash is probably the best all weather trail in the lakes,If your taking a non biker out do the lonscale terrace route starting at keswick, (Maps available from Keswick bikes)
Whinnllaters ok, but theres so much better natural stuff out there.. ๐
BBash great in any weather..
greta/railway - lonscale ok any weather. (3 small boggy landslips on lonscale ~10ft wide each about a month back in last heavy rain & the stream you ford before hitting the access road / parking for Skiddaw is pretty washed out and may be a wade / jump if rain continues, the ford has pretty much washed away.
Old coach road great any weather also.
Lonscale terrace - is that up the railway - Threlkeld - Blencathra - up glendaterra beck & back round & down Latrigg ?
Yip.
Thankyou gents (I assume)
we'll see about lonscale - she threw a bit of a strop on a tour de skiddeau once and might hurt me if she realises we're nearly going back there again
Whinlatter is safe, especially the blue route. Might be worth starting from masmill car park so you're not straight into bermy yeeha descending if she's a little nervous.
My tip would be to start with blue at whinlatter then progress up onto south, i took my GF who was non rider(never been on MTN bike) last year and she did great, you just need to take your time and help where needed, i.e get in front on top of south route and keep stopping and giving a little encouragement, meaning i told her to get off the brakes and let the bike roll over what tricky bits there may be and on the way up just sat behind and admired the view!!! mind you look on her face just rolling the tricky bits was fun too!!! ;-0
Suppose i should add that i did borrow a decent ladies MTN bike from LBS that added to her confidence...
