I am off to Keswick Monday - Friday next week

I am likely to have a day to go off on my own so presumably the best option is for me to do the Altura Trail ? I don't want to travel too far and am staying near Keswick so other options would be appreciated

I'm also looking for a Green/Blue option that we could do as a family

Thanks

The most important thing you need to know about Keswick is that you absolutely have to go to the George hotel one evening and have the legendary Cow Pie.

Don't bother eating for most of the day beforehand

Enjoy!

The Altura trail at Whinlatter is well worth a look. Theres a fun blue trail as well. I know theres plenty of great natural riding around the Lakes but ive only ever had a spare couple of hours when im up there so just end up riding Whinlatter.

Hi you could do the Altura, but.......... you could ride straight from Keswick and do either the Borrowdale bash or the back of Skiddaw loop otherwise known as Lonscale fell.
The bash has some fairly tech bits and some biggish climbs.
The back of skiddaw has a real nice mix of a bit of everything, easily extended with an up and back down to Skiddaw house. Some cracking single track all the way back to Keswick.

Do pop into KMB shop and ask the guys they should help too

the bash

+1 for the bash, having never done the aforementioned skiddaw loop though!
