The whole "chuck your helmet and shoes into a cupboard" thing might work where it is predominantly dry in the summer, but doing that in the UK, you'd soon spawn a new superbug. Ten different types of s**t, mixed with mud and sweat makes a bad enough stink even when left to air outdoors.
