wondering how they compare to Formula r1s, if you know.

Haven't tried a set personally but they seem fairly promising on face value.
Light weight & compatible with Shimano pads & oil.
Like most KCNC things a clever bit of CNC machining copying the basic principles of a proven product, with pretty colours & usually a competitive price...
