I just got this helmet after numerous recommendations, it fitted well when I first tried it but now I've used out on the road the front straps rubbing against my ear lobes. I've tried to adjust them but it's still painful after more than an hour's riding. Does anyone have any adjustment tips or bodges before I sell it on?
Do you pill the rear frame device downwards before you buckle up?
You have to do that for it to fit properly.
I'm guessing you've adjusted the two side buckles along with the rear cradle for maximum clearance? It may just be that it doesn't suit your head / ear-shape / proportions.
The rear cradle is down, the fit on my head is very good. Just the straps. I altered them to make the rear straps longer but that doesn't help much and makes the rear part baggy.
So annoying as I spent ages trying to find a helmet that fitted well, next time I'll check the straps as well as the main head fit
I stopped using Giro helmets because the chin straps always rub against the sensitive skin on my neck - eventually it caused some sort of sub-dermal cyst / lump which ended up being biopsied. Ironically I now use Kask because the straps sit differently and - for me - are way more comfortable. I like the smooth, artificial leather straps too.
In the end, I guess, it's a bit like buying shoes. Some fit, some don't and small differences can have a big impact on comfort.
Easily solved

Ha
I've wrapped some electrical tape round the straps for now, feels better, will have to see on a longer ride.
I also unthreaded the rear straps from the cradle, I'm not sure that causes a safety problem though. The straps on my previous helmet weren't attached.
Hi Dave..... I've had exactly the same problem.
I did manage to solve it but you might not like the answer.ย Problem I had was that the straps over my right ear hung too close to my ear.ย During a ride, they would see-saw up and down, rubbing my ear and driving me bloody crazy.
It's a shame really as its a bloody great helmet let down by a simple design flaw - the straps aren't really adjustable!
The solution was to cut the offending buckle just under the ear and remove it completely.ย Removing the buckle means that the straps now hang more loosely around my ears and dont rub at all.
I was able to neatly snip the buckle in such a way that it could have been put back together with a dab of superglue if removing it didnt help.
I've been using the helmet for 2 years now.ย Removing the buckle solved the problem.ย It's amazing.
Hope that helps.
I hope the straps don't rub on your Adam's apple as well, otherwise you'll be doing a lot of coffin.
Dave?
The electrical tape and moving more of the straps to the rear did the job. Forgot I was wearing it on todays 50 miler
