The previous occupant (who rented it) has left the place FULL of junk ๐ The seller hasn't bothered to go in to clear it out either, which given that it went for waaaay over the odds is even more annoying.
Guess I get to spend the weekend clearing it out. Wish I could send the seller a bill for doing so.
Pah
On the plus side... there did seem to be a kyak of some sorts in there (think just a plastic one). I was wanting to get a canoe for the summer, but may play with this for a bit instead (it probably isn't very good mind!)
have your solicitor send a bill for clearance.
You never know there could be a mint 1998 Kona Hei Hei at the back still in a box...
Stranger things have happened!
There certainly seemed to be something mountain bike shaped in there, missing bits, but I couldn't see what it was. Looked oldish.
Mostly it seemed to be cans of paint/creosote/general crap. Suspect it was all the stuff that they didn't want to take with them when they moved, so bunged it in the garage to be someone elses problem.
Id go through see if there is anything worth keeping then advertise a "garage" sale in the local neighborhood price everything at a quid, what ever doesn't sell you then advertise a garage giveaway. Whatever is left you can bin but people love free/cheap stuff.
Just do a tip trip, keep anything useful, bin the rest... hardly difficult...
you could have been sorting through your newly acquired crap rather than wasting time on the internet whinging...
Just leave all the crap you dont want in there and leave the doors open for a couple of days.
The tidying pixies will do it all for you.....
Pain in the arse as you cant take paint etc to tips anymore, they say you have to use it all up! You only want walls 'so' thick though! As bigyin says, if you leave it open long enough people will take stuff away for you!
The tidying pixies will do it all for you.....
What's that? Leave piles of poo, condoms and tramps in there?
I suppose the other way of looking at it is, it will save you from filling it with crap!!
did they leave a forwarding address? Has to be worth the co0st of having it shipped to them if you could get a picyure of the look on their faces!
Post a picture of the kayak and I'll identify it for you and give you a rough idea what it's worth (bout a tenner, I'd be doing a favour taking it off you ;))
Can't do anything tonight - it's dark and there is no electric ๐ Its going to have to wait until the weekend!
I shall try and identify anything worth keeping in there, but there is a load of paint/tins of stuff, some loft insulation, some stuff wrapped up (no idea what), an old wardrobe (that will need dismantled with my large axe). Probably 4 or 5 + car loads to take to the tip if it all needs to go.
Just pisses me off that the people selling it couldn't be arsed to do anything about it, and the guy who let it before selling his house and moving couldn't be arsed to do anything with his stuff either. Plus the only thing he had in there that I would have really wanted was his MX bike. Dammit!
So far you have a potential free Kayak and a mystery bike, maybe a few tins of stuff worth keeping.. sounds great to me.
Definitely not cricket. Is the garage part of your house? As you bought it for use, & there's something stopping you using it, couldn't you claim something off the seller for not highlighting it? Few photos + an e-mail into the mix...
I'd be going back to the seller and telling them to sort it out.
