Are they compatible?

I have 180mm (or are they 183mm/ 185mm?) Hope non-floating saw rotors and would like to run my Juicy 7s with them, so before I buy the necessary adaptors, does anyone have any experience of running this combination, or if no one does, is it possible without the rotors fouling the calipers?

Ta

I have run 160 Hope floating and non floating saw rotors with juicy 7 & ultimate calipers with no issues. In fact way better than with the Avid rotors.

Now going up a size at the front

Im in the same boat the Hope is 183mm and the Avid adapter takes the caliper to 185mm.

Im banking on it not being an issue as have purchased the new rotor and the adapter.

Watch somebody come along and shatter that now !!

Cheers
Rich

Let me know how it works Rich. There are a couple of MTBR threads about getting rid of Juicy warble with saw rotors but nothing I can find directly about any potential problems. I have spare rotors so I may just pony up the £14 for the adaptors and try it.

My main reasons would be to have interchangeable wheels on my full sus & HT, and because I don't need 200mm discs on my Juicys.

Just thought, what's stopping me buying Hope 183mm adaptors and putting the Avids on them?

You'd be better with hope 183mm adaptors with the avids and 183 rotors than with 183mm rotors and 185mm adaptors. You'd more pad in contact with the rotor

Will do and yes I had the turkey warble and after trying everything, it was MTBR that led me to changing rotors. Cured it.

So yes good thinking.. so am I right in thinking the Hope adapter will fit the Avid caliper or am I just being daft !

Why won't it?

Hope calipers and avid calipers will both fit direct onto post mount forks for 160mm rotors, so the adaptors will (I can't think why they wouldn't be) both makes of caliper?

No youre right it was just me thinking that they would be shaped on the caliper side or something, making them specific to each brand.

Just looking at it now on Chainreaction and it states to suit Hayes Avid calipers etc etc.

Nowt stopping the Hope adapter use that I know of, though I remember someone talking about part of some brand of calliper fouling some other brand of adapter - the word Dremell was mentioned as a solution.

I run old pre-saw Hope rotors on the front of both my bike and my wife's and I prefer them to the Avid rotors - couldn't say why except that I reckon the Avids are a bit rust prone if you don't ride every week (which, with multiple bikes, happens). So if you can swap an old Hope for a new one, I doubt you'd have any problems with swapping an Avid for a new Hope.

I wouldn't buy the Hope adapters just yet.

On a similar note - I have Avid Juicy5s on my Trek, and want to replace brakes with Hope tech X2s - can I use the existing 185/160 Avid discs and just replace the calipers/lever?
