I lived there in 2003, lovely place, the Dead Sea is fantastic for mountain biking and only a 30 minute drive from Amman centre, plenty of trail areas, wouldn't really want to venture anywhere north or south of Amman as there are some really dodgy areas with a few militants dotted around........ Good luck and have fun..... If you need a decent pub the Grenadier is where a lot of the expats hang out, it's in the Swafiya area.

Don't know but the 45min drive to the dead sea drops easily 1500m and is pretty spectacular. However I would not fancy going off exploring without a local. Not much help I know!

never saw anything whilst I was there (a few months) and thinking about it I dont think I ever saw a bicycle at all or certainly no decent bike shops. Had an okay time there-no the best place I ever worked but not the worst either.

good luck !!!!
