Hey,
I'm going over to the Peaks over the weekend and want to ride down jacob's Ladder, just need to know which is the right direction, If I start over Hayfield way head to Jacob's then Edale, is this the right way to be able to ride down the ladder?
Thats the way i've done. By doing it that way it makes the climb rideable and the descenet nice and steep.
People will always debate it though.....
Cheers crispo, don't fancy riding up it as it looks too good not to ride it downhill.
Defo what Crispo said!
Yup, I love it as a descent. There are some other great downs in the area too
+1 from me.
I was given an excellent loop by @Poon on here and repeated by another STWer recently. Would suggest JL descent to Eadale, the climb to Hollins Cross, Rushup Edge, descent to Roych Clough (excellent) climb to South Head. Doing that loop from Eadale took me 4hrs 20+k (i'm not particualrly fit and had driven 4hrs to get there first)
Depending upon your fitness/time - you could go from Hollins Cross/Mam Tor via Road/Windy Knoll then over to Limestone Way to take in outstanding Cave Dale gully descent into Castleton before climbing back to Rushup Edge via "landslipped road" road below Mam Tor
Cheers Jambalaya, I've got the OS map so going to highlight a couple of routes, the main thing is that I need to ride down Jacob's, I'm sure it's a great climb but also sure that flying down it is even better! ๐

That will be me ๐ Would highly recommend this loop OP which takes in Jacobs Ladder descent. Can't testify for how good the bridleway descent is as I took the footpath way by accident ๐ณ I blame the long climb before hand up to Edale cross that made me feel too tired to notice!
I think I will try this loop the other way round next time though.
I doubt very much if it's still skiable after the thaw. In terms of direction most folks find 'down' to be most satisfactory.
Or is there another 'Jacobs Ladder'? ๐

Gonna be doing again over the next few days but not over the weekend and hols, it's rife with walkers at busy times...
