I have been slowly tubelessing my fleet of bike wheels. Everything has been plain sailing up to wheel number 5.

For the first two wheels I was skeptical and bought maxis LUST tyres - these are superb and go up with the track pump.

For the next two I converted existing Schwalbe fat albert and racing ralph tubeless ready tyres. I couldn't get these to seat but after the homemade pop bottle inflator was constructed - no problem.

The 5th tyre and I am getting a little cocky - Schwalbe nobby nic, a little older than the others but no rips and plenty of tread and says tupeless ready on the side. This one has been a right pain and several sessions of shaking, pumping, riding about and it still isn't completely sealed. I have a number of tiny leaks at various points on the sidewall near the bead.

I haven't encountered this problem with either of the tubeless ready Schwalbe tyres.

Is it age that has thinned the tyre wall?... or perhaps previous incarnations of schwalbe tyres not quite as "tubelees ready" as later ones?

Just wondering whether to persevere or buy a new tyre?

Persevere, you'll get there in the end!

The only one I've had difficulty with was around the valve, and caused by making the slit in the tape too big (I think anyway, retaping the rim solved it).
