I have an SQL carbon Bar and tried fitting a Twistloc remote but the grip wouldn’t tighten sufficiently to lock on. The bolt ended up shearing. I tried another Twistloc remote and it’s the same.

I used carbon gripping paste. I tried a thin insulation tape. I’m going to try a Smaller amount of tape.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks
Rich

Have you tried the remote on other bars to see if it's actually the bars?

Measure the bar with a digital vernier

I had a set of Wake brand chinese bars once that it felt like I had to overtighten brake levers on and grips wouldn't stick.

They measured just shy of 22mm at the grip area, should be 22.2mm. I glued the grips on.

If they don't measure 22.2mm then the bar is at fault. Otherwise it must be the remote clamp.

Hmm?

"The only complaint I have with the carbon SQlab bar is that the slick black-on-black finish is... well... slick. It makes tightening levers, dropper remotes, and grips so they are tight enough but not over-torqued a tricky exercise. The aluminum bar's slightly textured finish is perfect in this regard."

0.2mm or 0.1mm all the way around is a tiny tiny amount. whats the diameter of the mount, just to be sure.

Thanks for the comments! I don't have any other bars so I decided to run the unsightly DT Swiss 2 in 1 remote because I love the profile for the SQLabs handlebar. It pulls 11.5mm instead of 10mm but it seems to work okay. I will try again with another bar when I get back from holiday.

Twistloc remotes are known for this. It's the problem not your bar.
