It's ten years since Singletrack World lost its Deputy Editor to cancer. Laura Killingbeck recalls a chance meeting with her in the wilds of America.
This was the first section I read this month and what a great piece of writing it is. Such a far cry from my lived experience and a great example of the breath of humanity that is the world of cyclists.
Totally agree with mtbfix... read this in the magazine and thought it was easily the best pieces of writing this year. I wish I'd been a bit braver in my early years. TBF, I didn't know that buggering off on bike was an option!
Thank you - a brilliant piece of writing on many fronts. All the more poignant personally as my sister in law has leukemia and was informed recently that there are no more treatments for her now.
Well this was above average. I'd actually read the magazine if you printed more stuff like this.
I first came across Laura Killingbeck when she wrote this 'man or bear' thing... https://bikepacking.com/plog/man-or-bear-debate/
Been wondering if this would pop up since the magazine arrived the other week. Fabulous piece of writing and the only bit I've bothered to read so far.Â
We have just one photo of Jenn from SSWC 2006 in Stockholm.
