My finger is poised about to hit the BUTTON. I've never bought a metric bike before, does 51cm really equal about 20"...coz that's what I need.

Where is the measurement from, and is it an effective or actual measurement?.

I ride an 18in Hardtail and a 56cm Roadbike if that helps

Call the shop for advice - what do you ride at the moment, and I go more on top tube and relative feet-handlebars-saddle measurement...

Helpful sizing guide that, the bike is in cms and the guide in inches. I would have thought 51cm to be more in the region of a 16" as I ride a 16" MTB and a 51cm road bike. But as above ring the shop for advice.

In road bike terms 61cm is more like 20". In mountain bike terms it all goes out the window.

For Lapierre 51cm = L, 56cm = XL.

toppers - 6'3" in my heels, 6'2" au naturale.

It would seem Lapierre use road sizing for their MTB's. I'm waiting for Rutland to confirm. My finger has been stood down.

UPDATE: no, it's all up in the air again, folk are scratching heads as we speak. Finger now at DefCon 2.

That's good to know. I've got long legs and a big winkie so it could be the bike for me.
