My bike has started making a creaking noise on every pedal stroke when riding up hill. If I keep the pedals at 3 and 9 o'clock and just bounce it doesn't creak. If I stand up and pedal it creaks. I'm assuming it's my bb and I am about to borrow a torque wrench to check how tight the cups are.
Should I be looking anywhere else on the bike to find the source of the creak?
I had some creaky-ness a bit like that, and after some advice and a free wheel hub service it went...................might be worth a try?!
Pedals?
I had this a few months ago and it turned out to be the rear hub.
mine does that but i think it could be my BB or just the bearings or maby ive done it too tight, ill check it when i clean my bike again lol
If it's HT2, take the cups out, regrease the threads and stick em back in.
could be "anything"
my mate had his rear mech hanger bolts loosen slightly & we both assumed it was BB - pretty much exactly the noise you describe
It's a Hope HTII BB and I did tighten it up last night. Things seemed a bit quieter at the beginning of his mornings ride. I think I'll try the re-greasing option first. Then it looks like it's onto the rear hub and freewheel.
Removed the cups and re greased them.
WORKED A TREAT!!!
Thank you
