Quite fancy some SRAM Red Etap, just the shifting system.  But I have Shimano direct mount brakes I don't want to swap for the latest SRAM ones and also I like my Ultegra chainset.  I quite like the concept of wireless before any one suggests DI2....

It might be a fashion faux pas but will the sram brake levers work with Shimano calipers and same question on chainset (are there any odd spacing discrepancies between Shimano and SRAM??)

Not sure on road but I'd assume that SRAM will be Dot Fluid and Shimano Mineral Oil in the brakes which could get you from the start

Yes, got the shifters working with Ultegra 6800 brakes...no issues at all, was going to upgrade to Red calipers in time but really no need to.

Sram and Shimano chainsets are no different from each other.

e2a: assuming there’s no hydraulics in the equation here

Yep, I'm talking road, no hydraulics - rim calipers
