Not in my experience, shimano XTR lasted three years, hope lasted two.

i've had a hope ceramic fitted since 2007 and never changed the bearings and they're still silent with no play

My Hope is currently about 4x longer lasting than any Shimano HT2 BB I've used, and the Hope has been subjected to more gritty rides than the Shimanos.

Xtr from 2006 still going, about a year's heavy use, then sporadic verging on little use.
Hope from 2007 still going strong but has had way more use than the others
Xt from 2008 sounding real rough....has had only about 100 miles use
