I've bitten the bullet and got Strava so I'll need a case for my phone. It'll need to be waterproof and preferably bar mounted. What are you all using?

I wouldn't put a phone on the bars personally. Plastic bag in the back pocket for me. ๐Ÿ™‚

In my case it would be one for an android so probably not much help. I would really think about whether you want to strap it to the bars though. Seems to me that that is a really easy way of making a little crash into an expensive one. Are you really going to be checking strava mid ride anyway? I tend to just look at mine at the end.

Quad Lock is good for bar mount. System has a waterproof cover which they call a 'poncho'. Very secure and case for phone is very pocket friendly ie smooth and low profile.

I think it's a bit big to mount on the bar. I've had a 6S for nearly 12 months. I've been using a Griffin Survivor case. It's solid and has kept the phone safe on some very wet rides and runs. The only downside is the cover over the camera lens can get condensation on it and means you can't take great pics for a few minutes after you stop riding.

Apart from that I would recommend the case. It's taken a battering and not let me down.

Life-proof Nuud. Survived (as has the phone inside) 8m drop to concrete, 30deg wash cycle and being generally treated like an old Nokia instead of an iPhone SE. Definitely recommend.

Good point about strapping to the bars, I should've mentioned it'd be for on the road bike more than the mountain bike, but thinking about it perhaps it's best in a pocket. I'll have a look at lifeproof though.

Plastic sandwich bag in hip pocket (baggies) or jersey pocket (road).

Another vote for Lifeproof, but be aware that eBay is awash with fakes, so if you want the genuine case you need to buy it direct from Lifeproof or a reputable stockist - John Lewis do them. Not cheap, but completely waterproof and very tough considering how low profile they are.

I'd stick it in a pack pocket rather than on the bars though.

Life proof. Used on 4s, 5c and now SE. Survived >5m underwater too. They last ages and if you have a problem they send you a replacement.

And to echo above, beware of cheap fakes.

Lifeproof Nuud here too. On a 5S. Although I don't use a bar mount.

Mine have not failed me in water or shock resistance but reading the above I wonder whether I've had fakes. Bought from amazon. After about 12 months I have found the rubber to have worn down a lot and the cases to have developed small cracks in places you'd expect looking at the design - the corners of the screen and immediately above and below the home button. I wasn't overly surprised given they are thinner than a lot of other "tough" cases. At this point I replaced the first and maybe should replace the second soon.

So mine have been good enough cases but not lasting that long. The phone inside remains immaculate though. I don't treat it with kidd gloves.

That could be a review of a Lifeproof Nuud or a fake Lifeproof Nuud...

One negative is that certain screen functions like swiping up front the bottom for the menu with brightness etc on are made more difficult by a raised cover right on the edge. Also you need periodically to remove the cover and give things a quick clean for Touch ID to work perfectly, but it isn't often.

Plastic sandwich bag in hip pocket (baggies) or jersey pocket (road).

There's always one that just doesn't get it isn't there.
