[Closed] Interior Lights for Defender

I've got a 90 which I'm planning on ply lining in the next few weeks, I use it for transporting bikes and I'm aware the side panels are getting a bit knocked about, so I'm hoping to stop that happening quite so much. I also think lining it will give me places to put kit retention straps etc.

I'm looking at getting some lights put in the back as alot of the time I seem to be either unloading or loading in the dark.

I've found these which are kind of what I want, but is £25 a bit steep?

Any thoughts on other suppliers? or, any other suggestions / things you lot have tried that work?

Cheers

Wait until Christmas - there will be loads of places doing LED Christmas lights really cheap - will look all festive inside, too!!

Probably worth the money - Mudstuff kit is very good.

Defender interior lighting is a wee bit feeble - just one in our 110 and that's right at the front!

have a look on APB trading website; they do some good overland equipment. It won't be the cheapest but it will last.
i have had lots of kit from Mudstuff - the silblades are highly recommended.

hope the 110 is going well, matt

Depends how much light you want, butyou could fit a couple of the old rectangular reversing lights.

Giles - we knew we'd like it but it's taken us by surprise quite HOW much we like it! Brilliant vehicle and came in very handy in the floods we had down here too.

When loading my bike in the back, I just use the bike light to see what I'm doing, then sling it in.

Farmer.. I carry two in there, bit of a squeeze, but as soon as I figured out the "knack" it became easier.

Matt.. I'm using the bike light at present but I'm also part of a Mountain Rescue Team so often out in the rubbish weather, so could do with something slightly more permanent. I want to go for LED because they are slimline and also more likely to be robust as opposed to caravan lights, which I have been suggested trying.. I think they'll also look slightly less obvious 🙂

Thanks for the recommendation of APB Trading.. I feel the wallet may be taking a battering 😉

i've got a couple of these http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.11303 to fit in our van's kitchen area. will use the body from an old flourescent tube light for the cover/switch. maybe worth a try?

Try LED side marker lights for trucks.
A quick google turned these up at £8 each

If you've got a split charge system or are only using the lights for short periods, so you can manage with old fashioned filament bulbs, I don't think you'll find anything cheaper than these.
Can only guess at the quality at four lights for £1

i only tend to carry 1 bike in my 90; with the front wheel off and the bike stood upright, the forks are clamped to a quick release attachment bolted to my cubby box. Then a rachett strap over the seat down to tie down eyes in the rear tub.
i have got a rear striplight in the centre of the rear headlining that the previous owner had installed.
you could try bolt on bits - their website is pants but call them to discuss your needs. They attend most land rover shows in the summer and have loads of lights on display.
SM - remember the wading depth is only 500mm officially 😕

FG - ahh yes but you can use the "wake effect" to get through deeper than that! Just don't stop!

Sounds like a good MTB set up - I just bungee mine to the cargo "eyes!" Fits in easily with one rear seat folded right up and out of the way. 90 is still cooler though...

+1, It's only a landy. Wirs straight to battery with an inline fuse and a toggle switch in the rear somewhere.

And hope you never shut the door forgetting to switch it off. 😉

Or use something from here
