I’m hoping to do some riding in the Alps this summer and maybe an Enduro event, also in the Alps (if I can convince some friends). I know the ins and outs of insurance for Skiing but haven’t had to ever look into MTB insurance. Are there any MTB specific insurance companies/cover that anyone can recommend. Is there anything in particular that I need to be aware of? Any advice and/or experiences would be appreciated.

Cheers

Snowcard

Check the level of cover allows for the type of riding and if it's a race event that it covers competition. I used it for Passportes which isn't a race so went one level lower on cover I believe.

Couldn't get past £3k bike cover though. I also dropped cover for stuff I had on my annual travel insurance already (which excludes "extreme terrain MTB", that apparently means anything other than tarmac).

I used Dogtag last year which seemed to offer good cover at a decent price. As above, make sure you tick all the correct boxes depending on exactly what you'll be doing.
Fortunately I didn't need to call on the insurance so can't comment on how they are to deal with or anything like that.

I normally check Snowcard, Dogtag, Columbus, Sportscoverdirect and Adventures Insurance for cheapest with required cover, (Adventures Insurance coming out cheapest atm).
There's normally an additional premium for racing over just leisure 'DH' mountainbiking.
If it's an UCI event, you will also need a letter from BC to say you are fit to race.
