I was due to do the c2c in May, all but one of the group have dropped out.

So I am looking for a 2 day trip. (over night in B&B). I'm based in Worcestershire so ideally within a couple of hours drive or less.

Distance, looking at around 20 or 30 miles a day. Off road, bridleways etc, I dont mind, just looking to get away for a couple of days.

I have transport for someone to drop me off/pick up.

Any suggestions please?

Go ahead and do the C2C anyway?

Otherwise head over towards Wales and the Wilderness

I did the c2c last year and I was only doing it for another group, so I would prefer something different.

The Ridgeway with some diversions onto Swan's way near the Chilterns is a nice off-road-touring route, non-technical in MTB terms so suitable for a loaded bike, good views, 90 miles but much of it is easy going, 5-6hrs a day will do it for a steady 2-day trip and there's loads of B+B options along it. Not so much fun if it's wet though )

From somewhere on the SW Wales coast up to Brecon. You could either go along Sarn Helen or up the Afan Valley, over to Aberdare and Merthyr then up the Taff Trail and down The Gap. Did the whole thing out along Sarn Helen, back through The Valleys) in two days last year, overnighting at my house in Cwmafan. For a two day ride I'd favour the latter route - it was about 55 miles (my riding buddies nearly mutinied about a third of the way through!) but we missed out a lot of bits I would have like to have fitted in, so that distance could be extended if you like.

Happy to share more route details* by email if you like.

*Possibly not 100%, y'know, sticking to bridleways......

I caught the train to Swansea and rode home to Cheltenham in 2 days - followed Sustrans 47 over the tops (via the Skyline trail), stayed overnight in Newport and finished off up sustrans 4 and 41.

This was more like 75 miles per day, but the going was quite easy (apart from some of the mountain bits between neath and pontypridd).

If I'm honest, the second day was mostly road, which was a bit dull, but the views along the Severn Estuary were really nice.

Take a look at the Open Cycle Map, and see what Sustrans stuff you can link together. The ones I've done have been really well signposted, so navigation is easy.
