Bit torn on it, very tempted though. I'd be either last, or second last if my mate enters, but it should be a good laugh.

What makes it a Mini downhill? Shorter, less gnarly?

You should give it a go Northwind - Am working or I might have.
Our paths do seem to cross quite a bit - say Hi next time ๐Ÿ™‚

Aye, I nearly did the winter series race today... Kinda glad I didn't though considering the bloody orrible weather! I've been riding more at innerleithen because a mate of mine is trying to up his game and have a crack at proper downhilling, not really my bag but it's still a good laugh. Hopefully I'll find you some day and say hi!

Steven, afraid I have no real idea... Last year's mini dh was a kid's race but this year's a bit different obviously. Rich was around in his spambot mode the other day, he'll know ๐Ÿ˜‰

It's the same format as the kids race, but for adults i.e. you've got to push your bike up the hill (you can ride it up if you really want), then get timed on the way down. You get as many timed runs as you can squeeze into the alotted race time.

In hindsight, it should of been called something other than a mini DH to distance it from the kids series...

I think you right be right there mc - suggestions for alternative names welcomed !!

Big Downhill seems a bit wrong.

But yes it's a push up race, track from the middle road, all runs timed with exception of short practice slot for 14/15 cat in the morning. Times should be around 1.30 - 2.00.

We ran it as loads of folk asked us to let grown-ups do the kids races.

How "DH" are the trails? More hardcore than the enduro ones? I take it your best time is how you are ranked?

Hi Al

These things are relative ! But unlikely to be much more 'core than the last section of track 3 at the Enduro. It is muddy up there just now tho.

Yes ranking by best time.

Check the mandatory protection requirements, they are more severe than other UK race requirements and it's stopped a couple of my mates from entering as they don't like to wear the stuff.

I agree it should be mandatory for U18's but grown ups can surely decide for themselves?

Just confirming kit requirements with commissaire, check the site again tonite

Actually they are about the same as any other race, the only BC regs requirement is full face helmet, SDA and NPS have varying requirements on spinal protection.

We will likely make full pads mandatory for U18s grown-ups can make their own decision.

If your passport says you are grown-up I won't argue. Won't lend you my car, but won't argue.

SDA have helmets and spine protection mandatory, BDS have helmets and gloves mandatory. U18's generally require full protection mandatory in both series.

The enforcement of knee and elbow guards for all is not the Norm. You are penalising yourself by implementing this rule and stopping potential 'grown up' clients from entering.

It's a win / win solution if you relax the rule. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Not for knees and elbows it's not.

The enduro was a brilliant event, chilled out and great fun, this should be just as good without the big pedally bits - ha!

After some discussions in the team and with the Commissaire we have relaxed the rule on elbow and knee pads, which are recommended (as is body armor), but only compulsory for U18s.

Just to mention folks entries are closed but there's still spaces available. The weather forecast's still changing but right now I'm believing the BBC who say it'll be nice.

This turned out to not be quite true  Another cool event, felt kind of outgunned but still, I was only there to race me and as I'm not dead I reckon that's a win. Cheers folks!

Ah, dunno about that, haven't seen any times but I know I was dog slow. The secret to succesful unsuccesful racing is to have very low expectations ๐Ÿ˜‰

Good old school race, pity there wasn't more entries. Brought back memories of the 90's and I'd forgotten how much your legs hurt from all the pushing - ha!

Also top marks to Steve Deas for marking out a little gem that used something different from the well used 'sterile' tracks down the hill.
