‘Improving’ an old folder

I have an old Elswick Hopper folder. It’s in really good Nick and I’ve got a hankering to use it on train trips. I don’t want to change stuff on it - better brakes, bars, tyres etc etc - what I want to do it to make it easier to lug about when it’s folded. I’m thinking about getting some cheapo folding pedals off eBay to make it a bit slimmer. I’ve got a strap to hold it in position when folded. I want to make a small ‘dolly’ to wheel it about on. Small enough that it can go on the rack when ridden. I’ll be using either a skateboard truck or some castors.
Any bright ideas or suggestions (other than don’t)?

Trying to add a pic. So that will end up with either none or about 15. 🙄

Do you have a picture of it unfolded?

Looks like in has a kickstand mounted behind the BB to the Chainstays(?)

Could be the spot to mount your 'Dolly' as a single skateboard wheel that sits just below the profile of the chainring, once folded it contacts the ground and you can just tilt it up holding the RH grip to wheel about...

Far simpler than some contraption that folds into the rack, in fact if you're not using the rack I'd consider removing it just to reduce bulk/mass.

I have nothing useful to add but I would like to say what a great colour that is.

I’ll be keeping the rack for carrying the lock and stuff. I will weigh up the BB idea. Thank you.

Thanks. I like the colour too.

The obvious improvement would be to contrive a way to fold the handlebar down. Maybe a modified seat clamp QR to at least flip them down towards the bottom bracket.

Edit - Actually, it looks like there's something at the top of the headset just not deployed in the folded picture.

It’s a qr that lets you move the stem up and down. The bars are fixed with a bolt.

lovely bike. But you won’t be carrying it far. As a classic klapprad fold in half bike, I’d update the seatpost and saddle, and tyres, maybe add alloy wheels if it doesn’t have them already, I wouldn’t worry too much about the pedals, although the cheap folding ones are decent for width. On a train nobody really cares as long as it has small wheels and is in half. Decent wheelbase  I have a btwin fixed wheel with drop bars that has the same fold . Not light but much better ride than a Brompton

Hi, thanks for that. I am aware of the Raleigh 20 site but that sort of upgrade just doesn’t appeal. The wheels are chromed steel so braking is poor. I’ll cope!
I have got other bikes that will get far more use needing attention/money spending.
