Last time I bought something for under £100 from the US there was a customs charge to pay, but looking at the gov website now ( https://www.gov.uk/goods-sent-from-abroad) it looks like good under £135 (except excise goods) don't incur any charges and so should sail right through. Can anyone confirm if this is the case? Is this as a result of Brexit?
ebay still want to charge me to go through their global shipping service which incurs a charge but if there will be no thing extra to pay then I don't know why I would have to do this?

In theory on consignments lower than £135 there's no vat to pay as it should be collected at point of sale not arriving in the UK. Vat is not duty though so you* may still have liability for duty.

A) they get to charge you what they like as its their service. Don't want to pay it, find another way.
B) gsp is ebay to ebay* not seller to you.
Your item might be less than threshold but the whole consignment will not be and that's what makes the difference, not individual item values, so its all dutyed & vated etc. Also Ebay need to do the various declarations etc for their consignment all that costs time to do so there will be a charge to pay for that.
*As the UK receiver (importer) ebay is the one liable not you.
Thanks for the explanation. I'm not sure what you mean by this

I guess you mean my goods will be bundled up with other items?
If I can find the item outside of ebay I may be better off?
