Right,
Ive put all my stuff from my p.c to my mac.
but my quicktime videos dont play?
It said i needed some extra 'thing' no idea what it means?
"You may need to install additional software to open this type of file"

It might be an AVI file it wont play, anyway i still need some advice.

Help and thanks

AVI files won't normally play in Quicktime (the default media player on Mac), without a plug-in of some kind I think. You're better off downloading VLC player. Then, once you've downloaded your [s]bit of grot[/s] perfectly respectable video clip, right-click on it, then select 'Get Info'. Go down to the bit that says 'Open with', then select from the menu, VLC player (Quicktime will be selected as the default). It will say 'Use this application to open all documents like this one. All future AVI files will open up in VLC, not QT.

Hey presto, happy [s]Grotting[/s] enjoying perfectly innocent video clips! 🙂

Rather than VLC can I suggest installing Perian, then just using quicktime?

http://www.perian.org/

Then only use VLC as and when you have a particularly obscure video.

VLC Player is an alternative to Quicktime for viewing [s]pron[/s] videos

Download it from here - http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-macosx.html

You want the 32 bit intel mac version - second one down.

If its a new imac then 64bit version is what you want - especially if you want to use the 64 bit Handbrake to [s]copy[/s] put your DVDs onto your ipod

Or you could do what IA suggests. Nice one! 🙂

VLC is still useful for playing stuff like WMV files and a couple of others. Needs no extra plugins.

Why is everyone thinking im watching filth?

You mean you're not?? 😯

Deviant!

For WMV you want flip4mac:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/products/windows-media-player/wmcomponents

Lets you play windows media formats in quicktime.

That plus perian gets nearly everything playing in quicktime.

http://handbrake.fr/downloads.php

Allows you to import video into different formats eg DVD to iPod compatible mp4
