Oh, if only I wasn't escaping briefly from writing Uniclass specs there's a whole bunch of things I could say about that... ๐Ÿ˜‰

How on earth are you supposed to shift gears with STIs positioned like that? Come on man, get some bar-end shifters and separate brakes...

what possible benifit does that offer over drop bars with the clip ons fitted ? - least then youd have a usable (safe) aeroish position on the drops

I'm not into the TT stuff ( yet ) and the sti's have been like that more months on just the base bar. I went for the wing base bar cause it has a flatter area for my palms when cruising along. I had drops, and rarely used anything other than holding the top corners or on top of the levers So getting the wide base bar made it more comfy and gives me basically the same hand positions.

The aero bars I only got recently to try out.

you'd have trouble climbing on the hoods! might have to get some proper bendy wrists!

Nothing wrong with STI's like that. Been running mine like that for 5 years now. Have tried to put drops on 3 times and couldn't get on with them.

Mudguards come off & tri bars go on when I'm battling for 57th place in the local triathlon - although I will admit that tri bars are the work of the devil.

I'd post a pic but I'm too lazy to learn how.

Are they block paving brick on top of a wall?

The STI shifters are plain wrong like that ๐Ÿ™„

All I can say is dont knock till you've tried it. the STI's like that area comfy setup. Compared to being on the hoods, control of the brakes is much much better.

As for the aerobars and my first time out in them. A little adjustment needed, but I really do like them for being comfy, especially when coasting down a hill or easier section. The return leg home last night was straight into a fairly strong head wind, and despite all the talk of it being pointless unless you have a perfectly flat back, there was a noticable difference between being holding the normal bars and being tucked down on the bars. My wind resistance went down, even at my sedate 14 mph into the headwind.

As for the other comments:
Triple - yup - there are few hills round my way, and it was all they had in the sale when I got it.

Paving slabs on the top of the wall? Yup - what can I say, works really well and make for a good seating part all round the patio.

why is your front QR in the wrong way, why have you got the saddle all the way forward on a lay-back post, and with the nose pointing down, and do you use all that steerer-tube poking above the stem to rest your sternum on when you're in your aero tuck?

the amputee mudguard is a nice touch though

QR ? - I told you I was a heathen ! To be fair, I normally do put it the other way round ... I think that was the result of me being in a hurry when unloading it from the car to catch a ferry recently.

As for the seat post ... its the post that came with the bike, and it doesn't really show in the photo, but the clamp is pretty much in the middle of the seat rails, maybe about 5mm forward of centre. A non-layback would put it way off centre. The nose of the saddle is a little down cause its comfy, but again it looks worse from the angle of the camera.

Stem ... keeps the options open for tinkering the heights between the bars ... still to get that just right.

Lastly ... the little mud guard. Cute innit ? I have normal SKS raceblades for the worst of the weather, but I found that the water and grit would throw onto the seattube and bounce out and hit my feet and onto the chain, so my feet would get unduly soaked, and me and the drivetrain covered in grit n grime. That little section catches all of that and it drops to the ground. Makes a huge difference.

Remember, its just a commuter ... so whatever gets the job done !
