...you better bring a chainsaw!
Freak snowstorm yesterday put down about 40cm of snow at our level, with deep snow all the way to the valley floor. It wasn't windy, but the heavy snow on top of trees which were in full summer foliage has brought hundreds of trees down. It looks like a hurricane has been through, total carnage. I just popped out for a quick evening ride and must have moved 20 trees off the trail, saw dozens more. Even the trees by the side of the road in Bourg Saint Maurice have taken major damage.
Phone lines down, dead animals in fields, roads blocked, cars squished, mental!
The snow's all gone already, but why couldn't it have come a couple of months back when it might have been welcome!?
a mate is guiding at trail addiction, i was looking on his facebook page yesterday.
more snow than in the winter in les arc........... ๐ฏ
As long as all the trails are cleared for our September visit Stevo ๐
More riding required, but I don't think it should be too much of a problem on the trails - most of the downed trees are deciduous stuff, which only affects the lowest-level trails. The conifers at higher levels should hopefully have coped OK.
Will just have to go up and ride to see. It's a tough life.
