Ok so I ride my bike a lot and its a very nice bike but I havent got a clue how to fix most things ( I can just about bleed brakes)

I noticed I've got a bit of play in the bottom bracket, if i grab hold of the crank arm i can wiggle it about a bit....What does this mean?? and how to dio i fix it?

Its a XT bracket btw

Cheers

Worn BB bearings I would guess unless the crank arm is loose which I doubt. You prob have to get a new BB:

See park tools guide:

http://www.parktool.com/repair/readhowto.asp?id=94 if old XT (Internal)
http://www.parktool.com/repair/readhowto.asp?id=95 if new XT (External)

yeah if its borked anyhow, you cant really do much damage to anything else by riding it some more...(disclaimer)

is it a HT2 type with the bearings on the outside? or just what year XT is it?

I would usually bang on about being able to change the bearings in it for about a fiver, but if your not too confident with the spanners maybe a new one isn't a bad idea, a deore fits if your on a budget.

This is the how too rebuild your one if you feel mechanically adventurous..

can highly recommend BETD and there bearing service.

send in your cups, they fit new bearings. refit them.

turned around in about 4 days i think!

Hope ones last forever cos theyre stainless bearings and you can send them in after 11 months and theyll usually warrenty the bearings. If you ride anywhere like the peaks or lakes theyre unbeatable. K
