.....of getting a full susser. How do i make them stop?

I already have a road bike, and carbon hardtail (which i have spent a small fortune upgrading), and I am no where near competent to ride either of them....but i still cant stop these thought of getting Full Suss XC bike. A lovely white Trek Fuel ex 8 caught my eye in my LBS the other day, and thoughts of it keep creeping back. How do i banish these evil thoughts?

Hasn't stopped me, I now have a carbon road bike, a very nice full XT hardtail, a commuter / hack bike and a rather nice FS. I'm not the world's fitest or best rider but i do like my bikes. The only way of banishing such thoughts in my experience is through careful application of the interest free or buy now pay later treatments.

get one use it for a while, then start using your HT again and realise you don't need the FS... or alternatively get one, realise there fricken ace and sell everything else as you aren't using them ...or alternatively get one, realise full suss is the way ahead, sell everything else to buy more FS bikes..etc etc..

I've just rid of my Trek EX9. great bike, but IMO way too much bike for the trail I ride.
replaced with 456 and I can't wait to rediscover HT riding. If you've got the money go for it, what's the worst that can happen?

or option 4, keep the full suss and the other bikes but relaise you now need a 100mm, 140mm, 160mm full suss with a QR / 15mm / 20mm fork to do what you've already bought can do but might just do a little better. Me I'm torn between a long travel hardtail or a 160mm AM rig for my next purchase. Just as well I have no money.

I just sold the 5th geared hardtail I've built in 3 years, I never use them, if I want to ride a hardtail I take my singlespeed, if I want gears I take my full sus...............

but I keep getting this hankering for steel or ti hardtails with gears

I also quite fancy a cross bike too for commuting as I am trashing my road bike, if I get the cross bike I could then upgrade my road bike too 😯

You could find a second hand fuel? If you end up not liking it as much you expected, you can sell it on for not much of a loss.

If you realise this idea doesn't float your boat, this will help you decide whether you want the Fuel in the shop a) because you want to try full suss, or b) because it's shiny and it looks pretty.

I have an EX9 frame in white which i might sell. I had the same pang about a year ago so bought one rode it for about 2 months and then did something quite strange and built up a singlespeed rigid.....never looked back. The Trek is taking up room in the garage at the moment. Good bike though to be fair.

I have a carbon full sus, just sold a 456Ti hardtail, owned a Trek EX8 and a carbon hardtail, if you're anything like me the thoughts will never stop, my wife is ready to kill me, but as I say, better to ask for forgiveness than seek permission :o)
