How did he manage to go over the bars there?, his front wheel appears to have rolled over the rock?.
Bloody good photo though.
Changed his mind about a millisecond after the last moment? Probably just after spotting the photographer stood on his exit...
Front wheel managed to roll over the rock once it had shed some excessive weight allowing it to move up and over ?
He's gonna land on the camera man
he looks so chilled, like he's on wires, he does this all the time, man.
thats taken at hadleigh ion the olympic course - not sure if it was in practice or the actual race though, top of the rock garden I think...
And his mum's only just washed his shiny white kit an all...
Olympic course no?
I do think it'd be interesting to catch the facial expressions and noises cyclists make when they realise it's starting to go all wrong. Not the actual impact or anything but there's probably a photography/film show in that if you could only figure out how to do it.
It's a Hungarian, not a US rider?

Race innit, during practice they had different number boards on, HUN1 etc.
Bit poor that he couldn't be bothered to do the thumbs up at the photographer like that other guy.

Would have been fine without a helmet... ๐
Lucky he didn't land on those pink spikes. Could have had his eye out!
Obviously a 29er isn't big enough.
Just another smooth gravel path...
Oof, he went for distance then?!
I was at the event - there were quite a few riders who looked very uncomfortable on the rocky bits. Some looked like rodies who had never been off road before. Others stopped and walked down the techy bits, some almost fell and we saw a couple who did.
Great fun to watch.

I think that's pretty unfair actually, I know some of the back markers walked (some of whom aren't particularly strong riders anyway!), but I thought most made a damn good effort of riding it under the pressure and intensity of racing.
Edit: take this crash, that's not a guy who was hesitating and mincing and stalled, that's someone who's gone in at pace and hooked up on something.
I quite enjoy this, all but short moment, the ability to fly, weightlessness, the feeling of being free, take me back to cliff diving or diving off a top board at your local swimming pool, but my brain soon catches on the the fact that I am also going to suffer a huge amount of discomfort and pain a fraction of a second latter, which spoils the whole experience a tad for me! ๐
