I’ve been trying to persuade my 78yr old Dad on to an ebike for the last year.

Anyhow the matter may well have been forced this week as he has had a heart attack.

Are Bosch motors still the best? What brand / bike should I be looking at for him?

Thanks

Have been looking recently for the father-in-law, who's in the same boat, so to speak. Giant do one which ticks all the boxes, and we test rode it and it was FAST. Not compared it to other ebikes though.

He doesn't have to lift it over anything does he?

If seen that giant. Only think that puts me off is the top tube.

His current Cannondale has a sloping top tube so very easy to get off.

I was just thinking with the extra weight of an ebike a sloping top tube would be beneficial. Then again I could be over thinking it...

Maybe best looking at a step through frame? Can't be too easy hoiking your leg over a bike once you get to that age. I think Raleigh have some pretty good ones?

My Mum's partner has been a long time roadie in the Otley club. Now has parkinsons and got a KTM hybrid (bosch) a few years ago also got a Badass dongle so that he could always ensure keeping up with the pack. He went for a step thru cos top tube frames had become a struggle. Hes had it for quite a few years now and still out regularly

You could fit a Bafang kit to pretty much anything with a "normal" bottom bracket...
I think there are some UK distributors now.
A step-through would be the obvious choice.
