How much? Good idea and I know one needs to recoup investment etc.... but £40? Maybe I'm getting too old for this $hit 🙂

Too much for what it is...... And shame (without taking the preload cap off) that you can use it on the non drive side to aid spinning cranks whilst doing gear adjust etc

Great idea, but I agree 40 seems a bit dear, I reckon 25-30 is realistic

I saw them for £30 [I think] at one of the races this year & thought that was about all it's worth

On another note, as far as I can see there is only a mobile contact number & email address as means of contact
I'd never buy anything online that didn't have full contact details on their site - postal address etc.
besides - I'm pretty sure it's a legal requirement

Can you buy a stand for less?

£40 might seem a lot, but can you buy anything that does the same job for less..

If you have any children, nephews/nieces, neighbours with kids or live near a school with poor security, you could probably give them 50p to hold the bike for an hour or so.

fairly irrelevant

He's trying to bring a new product to market & a lot of people think he has his price point wrong
If he does well out of it - he was right & they were wrong

The fact that nothing else is available is neither here nor there

Got one off Andy at Fort Bill, Think it was £30 and I think its great, use it all the time for jet washing and lubing. I agree, £40 is probably a bit OTT, but it probably isn't a cheap item to post. Its well made and does what it says, and I found Andy to be a top fella, I'd trust him.

Its very relevant if you can buy something similar for that price. You can't!
If people want to buy a stand that keeps the rear wheel off the ground, then this is the cheapest option.

Closest in comparison is the Topeak Ride up stand at £80!

he's not trying to compete with workstands though, the idea behind his product is that you have it for small jobs where taking the workstand may not be feasible (camping trips etc). i think it's major selling point is to use it to aid cleaning your bike. it winds me up when my bike is leaning against the wall and constantly slipping/moving. if i had one of these it would be so much better, especially for jobs like cleaning & lubing the chain. i'd get tons of use out of one if i had one...just haven't yet been able to justify £40 when there are other things i'd rather be buying. i will do at some point though i'm certain. £25, i'd have one.

I really like it, but it doesn't seem to offer much over this Minoura folding stand which I've been using for years and is half the price.

Gilesey got there before me. I got mine from Wiggle for about £15, and fits all bikes not just those with HT2-style BB.

The minoura folding stand is a pain! Different bikes / setups it doesn't fot properly and usually results in it falling over!

Go an Andy Stand on order and cant wait to use it. Yeah £40 is alot but as already said it costs a bit to post. LookA far more sturdy than any other folding tune up stands

actually it is £30 + postage...

perhaps needs to refine the design so it folds flat for ease of storage and to reduce postage costs. And real shame it works on the drive side as you can't spin the cranks continously

As for other things out there there are these things:

[img] [/img]

folds flat and as used on non drive side you can spin the cranks...

though will not suit all rear triangles... and would to allow front wheel to be taken out but does suit all crank types and is only £5 less £25.

anyhow not mega bucks and probably cheaper that bending something up yourself unless you have stuff kicking around the garage

so re andystand:

1. Make it fold flat - would be easy to do, though would add to manufacturing operations
2. On the logo arm (flat bit where it says andystand etc), why not cut a HHII BB cup tool into the end of it? It almost has one with the star hole?

if you got the fold flat design right could make point 2 easier to use.

I.e. incorporate this:

into this:

useful emergency tool..

Had the local fabricator we use at work to make me one of those things. Pretty handy I might add. Saves getting the larger stand out just to wash off.

^^^^
Already been asked.
Sorry to be blunt but answer to all is a no, he did it as a favour as i use him a lot and I don't want to take the pee.

Find a local metal worker and see what they have to say, based mine on an empty cable reel and just told him what measurments I wanted what to be and what to cut off.

Two coats of Hammerite sorted.
