Hello,

Got some spare tyres I'm going to put on an innertubed set up.

Whats the best way to remove the dried up/ semi dried up sealant?

Do I even need to? There's quite a bit in there I guess but should it effect the tube?

Cheers

Just leave it in place. No need to remove unless you're a weight weenie

Quick scrub with a nail brush to remove the loose stuff, then leave it. Seems to dry up further with a tube in there (I guess the friction grinds it up).

Just be aware the tyre is probably full of thorns, grit, and everything else that would have caused a puncture but the sealent stopped, be prepared for a lot of punctures in the first few rides as you find them all!

I use a Dremel with a nylon brush. It looks like s small chimney broom.
They heat up though the friction and throws off the gunk better than anything else I've found.

The best way to remove the sealant is to toss it in the trash when the tyre wears out or is punctured beyond repair.

try wearing a nice thick marigold glove and lots of back and forward rubbing. Then get the vacuum cleaner in there to pick up all the little bits.
