Normally an easy job, but....

The flipping allen has rounded off inside the mech, so how do I get it off the bike - tried loads and with no success. Can anyone help?

does it have a mech hanger you can remove from the frame - will be easier then - you can attack the thing off the bike?

I'd try either hammering a slightly larger torx head into the hole and using that or trying to attack it from the other side with a drill bit etc.

On my xtr you can dismantle the mech to change the bolt - if you can do that with it still in frame you might get mole grips on the bolt head afterwards?

take it by the hanger making it easier to work with. hammer a torx key in the worn allen bolt

Edit: aye as he said ^^^^^ ๐Ÿ˜†

Usually works for me also ๐Ÿ™‚ But try a bit of penetration oil on it for a few hours before as well?

If it's a replaceable mech-hanger then if all else fails, you can just buy a new hanger.

Riding through a wood after a gale has always worked for me.

Yep,I have a spare mech hanger, but my mech is still stuck to the old one ๐Ÿ™ I'm going to give the torx thing a go.

YAY! ๐Ÿ˜€ Thanks guys particularly WW who came up with the first suggestion, I have now removed it! Anyone got any idea if the bolt on the X0 Mech (Redwin) can be replaced? If so, how?

[s]If you have a spare hanger, it might be easier to cut the hanger off the thread of the bolt. The hanger should be an aluminium alloy, compared to the steel bolt, so saw as much of the hanger off from around the bolt as you can, cut a slit in the remainder of the hanger up to the thread, then wedge the slit apart with a chisel (/screwdriver ๐Ÿ˜‰ ). Maybe.....[/s]

Ignore me..... ๐Ÿ™‚
