I have a Garmin Edge 540 which I use regularly to record my routes which I then download onto Komoot.

Next month o am going to Scotland and depending on the weather ride Heartbreak Ridge net Ballater.

i have the route saved on Komoot but I have never used my Garmin to follow a route - I would like to.

In easy to follow instructions how do I;

a. Get the route from Komoot onto my Garmin

b. Get the route onto my Garmin screen so I can follow the route

thanks

TBH, it depends on what you've licensed from Komoot and when. Ive used Komoot for many years and have the whole world mapping licensed and I've installed the Kommot ConnextIQ app on my Garmin so it all just syncs automatically. BUT Komoot no longer does this automatically.

Worst case scenario for you would be to export the GPX file from Komoot and import into Garmin Connect on your phone - Garmin Connect will then sync it automatically to your 540...

Set up the link between Komoot and Garmin Connect.

Wait a minute.

Switch on your Edge 540.

Sync it with the Connect app.(It'll probably do this anyway).

The Komoot route will magically appear on your Edge as a Course.

No need to install anything else on your 540.

If Komoot doesn't work for you you'll find Heartbreak Ridge in Courses on Garmin Connect.

Thanks everyone. I now have the route on my Garmin.

How do I “switch” it to follow the route?

Go to navigation, routes, saved routes, click on the name of it and it'll come up

Also find the setting about automatic rerouting and turn it off - if you go off course the default is to try to take you back to where you went wrong whereas I'd prefer to work out how to rejoin the route myself.

And remember that if you start the route navigation it'll happily chirp away and give you directions but this does not mean that you have pressed the normal start button to record the ride.
