I find all the dirt and grime from the road is harder to clean than mud on the mountain bike, all the crap that fires onto the frame like grit/salt/tar etc from the road, leaving my frame looking stained most of the time, I want to give it a good clean now. Whats a good way to get it all off?
Cheers.
A little bit of soapy water and a brush works for me, followed by some hose action if its really bad. I got myself some SKS full length mudguards which mostly solve the problem.
Bottle of turtle wax seems to be all I need. Hose, brush with soapy water, hose again.
I use some degreaser spray that I got from the pound shop, seems to work a bit like muckoff
Hope Shi*t Shifter and a brush for me.
Spray, leave a couple of minutes and clean off with a brush and hose. Job done in about 5 minutes.
in the winter i rinse it after every ride - the salt just kills it.
when its still wet it comes off easy ๐

Ah yes turtle wax! I had forgotten about that! :-). Ive only ever used it for a car though. So its fine to use on bike frames too?
Muc off or similar, soapy water, a brush, then rinse.
The brush is they key part as road grime needs agitating to come off, unlike fresh mud on your MTB usually, which doesn't tend to stick as hard.
Hose
DeGreaser
Sponge
Rub de Dub dub
Hose
Lube
Wire wool rubbed on tyres to get the carp off (or 80grit sandpaper)
